Coll pix:
Four kittens & me arrived to live on Coll on 18 August 1998...
Our first home on Coll for a couple of months was Old Totamore, someone's summer
house which she kindly lent to me. It stands out on a rock above the machair,
miles from the nearest road... wonderful.
The next six months i lived at Tigh nan Craobh, the first cottage coming into
the tiny hamlet of Uig. I planted over a dozen trees here. I also made the traffic
sign you see in the picture <g>, warning of cats on the road.
Next i lived in the main village, Airigh nan Gobhar. After two years on the
island, i got thrown out on the street as the owner of the flat lost it to the
bank... Like many other poor people on the island i had no choice but to leave,
as more and more homes are turned into holiday lets, and rural communities
depopulate. You thought the Clearances ended?
